Italialaismanageri Claudio Ranierin erottamispäätös oli torstai-illan ykköspuheenaihe jalkapallomaailmassa. 65-vuotias Ranieri luotsasi debyyttikaudellaan Leicesterin Valioliigan mestaruuteen ja tuli tehneeksi yhden jalkapallohistorian suurimmista sensaatioista.
Toiselta kaudelta tuskin kukaan odotti likimainkaan vastaavaa menestystä, mutta ei kai putoamistaisteluunkaan ajautumista ennustettu, ainakaan Leicesterin suunnalla. Leicesterin sarjasijoitus ja haluttomat peliesitykset käyvät sinänsä perusteiksi potkuille, mutta toisten mielestä taas kunnia ei unohdu ja Ranieri ansaitsisi pikemminkin patsaan. Leicesterille taas toivotetaan monessa twiitissä lähtöä alas.
